The Internet Division:
The Internet Business Project launched around October of 2003 and was focused on developing skilled web development resources in the Uralsk market. IBC received funding from Karachaganak Petroleum to train a select and qualified group of students in Internet and web development. After 10 months of training in PHP, Dream weaver, Photoshop, HTML and several other programs, we developede a solid pool of talent in the Uralsk market. The project will continue to provide training and utilize the new talent to deliver web related services to clients in Uralsk.
The first phase of the project was complete at the end of July. In August, we officially launched the IBC Internet Division and our first few months have gone extremely well. We are working with BKKS, KPO, TV Karachaganak, Kazakhstan Cinema, Home Services and several other companies in Kazakhstan on interactive projects. This is still a new project and will require a great of deal of support in order to move it toward sustainability, however the technology and web industry is an excellent industry to compliment the already burgeoning oil and mineral focus.
Goal of Internet Division: Develop the web/interactive industry in Kazakhstan
My role as PCV: To work to help develop a sustainable internet division via establishing best practices, identifying multiple revenue streams, and developing a skilled staff.
Progress to date: Developed new marketing materials including brochure and website, Generated 2 full time and 2 part time jobs, generated employment for 7 feelancers, executed work for 7 clients, created project management system including statement of work, creative input document, and tracking system, developed staff redundancy systsem, constant training of staff. Exceeded revenue goal for first 7 months of operation.
